Dr. Filizola is Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and participates as training faculty in the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Discovery (PTD) multidisciplinary training area. She has frequent openings for Pre- and Post-doctoral Associates in her research group in the area of computational biophysics/biology. Prospective graduate students should apply through the PhD or MD/PhD programs of the Graduate School of Biological Sciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Postdoctoral candidates with exceptional record of accomplishments in the development and application of computer simulation methods to biomolecular systems are always encouraged to apply directly to Dr. Filizola.
NOVEMBER 13, 2019: POSTDOC POSITION IN BIOMOLECULAR SIMULATIONS AND MACHINE LEARNING FOR DRUG DISCOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT
Applications are invited for a postdoc position in the Filizola Lab (https://filizolalab.org) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in New York City, USA. We are seeking highly qualified candidates with expertise and a strong publication record in the development and/or application of computational biophysics/chemistry tools, ranging from molecular dynamics simulations, enhanced sampling algorithms, free energy calculations, and machine learning approaches for drug discovery and development. The position will allow participation in a variety of interdisciplinary projects, offering an opportunity to work hand in hand with experimental collaborators.
The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Theoretical/Computational Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. He/she should also have expert programming skills and analytical abilities in addition to a strong background in molecular dynamics simulation methods and advanced knowledge of AI-based tools to efficiently analyze large simulation datasets. Proven expertise in computational approaches for drug design (e.g., ligand-based and structure-based drug design, virtual screening, docking, pharmacophore analysis etc.) is also appreciated. Strong communication skills, and an ability to both collaborate with peers and/or train undergraduate students effectively are required. The position is available immediately.
Qualified applicants should send a CV and at least 2 reference names by email to Dr. Marta Filizola at marta.filizola@mssm.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Please contact us by December 15th, 2019 for fullest consideration.
